Dangerous Ground

Nowak v Wakerley Municipal Council (1984):

The players, coach, club and league were all involved in a decision to proceed with a match despite a danger from protruding sprinklers on the field.

A player was injured and was able to claim compensation.

The court held that although the players had volunteered to do so, the club and the league were liable for allowing the use of a ground that was not reasonably fit for the purpose.
