It is exceptionally important to understand
why people volunteer. This is particularly so as volunteers
are generally becoming harder to find.
- People who feel they have benefited themselves and just
want to put back into the system
- People who feel that they have certain skills to offer
- People who are unemployed and hope to maintain work skills
and to improve employability
- People who want a paid job in your organisation.
- Retired people who want to continue to use their skills
and experience in a way which will replace purpose found
in their paid work
- People who want to use their spare time in satisfying
way
- People who want to meet other people and make friends
through voluntary work
- People who want to increase knowledge of helping professions
- Volunteers who want to solve a community problem
