Poor communication can have bad consequences

Probably "poor communication" is one of the most common criticisms of any organisation. "The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing" is a commonly used cliche.

Probably no-one deliberately sets out to stifle or suppress the levels of communication within an organisation. It just happens as a result of people being overworked, inadequately trained, or lacking in skills.

Here are a few of the possible consequences of a breakdown in communciation:

Events and programs fail through lack of support from members / participants

People do not feel welcome in an organisation

People fail to pass on their knowledge to others

People in the organisation don't "pull in the same" direction - factions spring up and fight one another

The profile of the organisation in the community is less than desirable.

Sponsors lose interest in the organisation
